Terms & Conditions
These terms form the basis of the contract between you (our customer) and Unique Cake Creations. These Terms and your Order are considered by us to set out the whole agreement between you and us for the sale of cakes. It is your responsibility to check all details in the quote are complete and accurate as this is the information we work to when completing your order.
Any cake ordered from a picture or photo of a cake produced by any other cake maker can only be reproduced as our interpretation and not an exact copy. Where colour swatches are provided we will do our best to match as close as we deem possible. Exact colour matches are not guaranteed.
Your cakes should be stored in a cool dark place, ideally in the box supplied and not put into the fridge, unless advised to when collected/delivered. Sponge cakes will keep for up to 5 days after delivery, but can be frozen for up to one month if cut into slices and carefully wrapped. Fruit cake lasts for several months as long as it is wrapped up well. Nuts, gluten, eggs and dairy are used in our kitchen on a regular basis and all cakes may contain traces of these allergens. Fruit cakes will be covered in marzipan and then sugar paste (unless overwise agreed). Sugarpaste is not designed to be refrigerated and should also be stored in a cool dark and dry place. If fresh flowers are required on any cake we can liaise with your florist as some flowers can be poisonous and will not be used.
Any non edible items are always advised on collection/delivery and should be removed prior to consumption. Tiered cakes will contain plastic or wooden dowels and should also be removed.
For celebration cakes and cupcakes we require a minimum of 3 weeks notice however last minute orders may be accommodated if possible. For wedding cakes we require a minimum of 3 months notice however a shorter period may apply – please contact us to check for availability. Following your quote, your booking fee will secure your date. Please remember, if it is a special occasion you are advised to order as soon as possible.
Booking Fee & Final Payments
We require a booking fee on placement of all orders for cakes, which is deducted from the final balance payable. Booking fees are non refundable. The booking fee paid covers the work we undertake in agreeing the design of your cake.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, if you are contracting with us as a consumer online, by phone, at a wedding fair or any other venue other than our office, you have the right to cancel your contract at any time to 14 calendar days after the day on which you ordered our services. Cancellations must be notified either by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or writing to Unique Cake Creations, 108 Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone, Kent CT20 2PG
For celebration cakes under £100 a booking fee of £20 is required, and for celebration cakes over £100 a £50-£100 booking fee is required (as agreed in the quote). By paying the booking fee this secures your date. All final balances need to be paid either on collection or before delivery.
For wedding cakes a non refundable booking fee of £100 is required which will secure your date. The remaining balance is then due 4 weeks prior to your wedding date. If any monies are outstanding after this time then we will not be able to proceed with your order until full payment is made. If an order is taken within the 1 month period before the wedding date then full payment is required. Please note when paying your booking fee for your cake it is believed that you have read, understood and accept our terms and conditions.
In the event of a cancellation your booking fee/deposit is non refundable. For all bookings other than weddings if a cancellation is received you will be liable to pay for any special order items and for any work that has been started. For wedding cakes if a cancellation is received you will be liable to pay for any special order items and for any work that has been started. If the order is cancelled within the 1 month before the wedding date then all payments made are non-refundable.
In the unlikely event that Unique Cake Creations is unable to complete your order due to unforeseeable circumstances, we will either pass your order onto a third party with your full knowledge for completion or a full refund will be given.
Cakes can be collected from us or delivered. If a cake is collected please contact us for a prearranged date and time. If collected the full responsibility for the safety of the cake is with the client and we cannot be held responsible for any damage to your cake after it has been collected and left us. Please stick to your allocated pickup time. Cakes not picked up will be kept for 1 day and we will contact you. If nothing is heard from you we have the right to advertise your cake. Delivery fees are advised on request. All cakes are delivered boxed and the boxes can be left for you at the venue if required. Once the cake has been set up, we always take a photograph of the cake in situ. We can accept no responsibility for the loss or damage to your cake once it has been delivered to the venue. In the extremely unlikely event of any complaint Unique Cake Creations will only be liable to the maximum of a full refund of the order.
Hired equipment & returning
Stands and other equipment are available for you to hire and must be returned to Unique Cake Creations within 3 days of the wedding date (unless alternative arrangements have been made prior to the wedding). A refundable deposit is required to guarantee the safe return of items. Failure to return items within the specified time, or at all may incur extra charges. The refundable deposit will be returned once the hired equipment is returned in satisfactory condition.
We reserve the right to use images of your cake for any form of advertising including web based promotions, brochures, galleries and competitions
We want you to be 100% happy with your cake however if there are any issues then please let us know within 24 hours of collection or delivery. In order to be able to investigate any complaints, we will need to see the cake and it should be returned to us to do this.
Cake Decorating Courses
Attending a Class
To book a place at one of our classes, please contact us via email at email@example.com, via Facebook messages or call us on 07809 440014. Spaces are only held once payment is received.
Payment can be made via bank transfer or cash. All payments must be made in advance as no payment is accepted on the day.
Once you have reserved your place and made payment, we do not offer a refund if you cannot attend, unless we are able to resell the space to another person. You may send someone else in your place. If we have to cancel the class we will offer you an alternative date for the same class. If for any reason we cannot reschedule that class we will offer you a refund in full to the value of the class you paid for.
Every care has been taken to ensure the descriptions and photographs on our website accurately represent the quality of our work, and what you can expect from each class.
Photography & video
We may occasionally take photos during our courses for promotional material which would include the participants and the cakes produced. If you do not wish to have your photo taken or appear then please let us know.
During each class we teach a number of skills & techniques that you can apply to your own cakes after the class. However, if you intend to run a cake decorating class, you may not use the designs or any notes, formats or photos acquired during one of our classes
